False news proposal killed by CRTC

The CRTC has withdrawn a controversial proposal that would have given TV and radio stations more leeway to broadcast false or misleading news.
Indeed, the broadcast regulator now says it never wanted the regulatory change in the first place and was only responding to orders from a parliamentary committee.
The committee last week quietly withdrew its request for regulatory amendments in the face of a public backlash.
With that, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission was only too happy to drop the idea altogether.
The proposed change would have considerably narrowed the scope of the current ban to cover only false or misleading news that could endanger the lives, health or safety of the public.
“All I can say is, ‘Thank you, committee,”‘ CRTC chairman Konrad von Finckenstein told the specialty publication The Wire Report last week.
“I will withdraw this proposal tomorrow. This is the end of this issue.”

Thanks 4 the tip dood, though I dunno if this is a win or not. It sounds like it may be Orwellian, or we’re supposed to think it’s good when it’s actually bad politically correct censorship of the Canadian marketplace of ideas, like we’re too dumb to handle free enterprise, check stuff out and think for ourselves. They might consider The Alex Jones Radio Show as “false or misleading news” and I have no idea what the current “ban” on it really means. Will investigate, it might be a good thing, but here in Communist Canada, you never know what you’re not allowed to know…

Just a head’s up, while we get tons of info, and the iPhone (etc.) is really cool, it can be hard to keep track of the game by putting the pieces together. Great websites like Infowars.com with the best of the day’s mainstream news and more can help. Right now, it looks like — after the media widely introduced the concept in Egypt — the U.S. government is looking at using a “kill switch” to shut off the internet. Policies are in place and governments worldwide might try this too. We even sort of expect it.
After years of warnings about almost everything, from the police state, the financial meltdown, to nuking Iran and losing the internet, everything is getting sort of “old” today. We’re being conditioned to accept every apocalyptic possibility in the book, or in movies, music, tv, videogames, websites and more for that matter, too put us in a permanent state of fear and to give the new world order behind this lots of options. No matter what happens we can nearly all say “I told you so”, or something like it.
Before whatever happens, or more accurately continues, we can see it’s important to be able to talk about this stuff with people in our community — offline — where we can speak in more detail about how to deal with it. Our online communications are getting shorter, snarkier and sillier, even about conspira-stuff. That’s why there’s very little action-planning going on. If this carries over offline, we literally won’t be able to “talk” about what to do in the event of an emergency, or better yet before.
Since most adults are obviously capable and intelligent enough to figure out a lot, including what’s been done so far in the info war and more that can work where they live, we just have to beat the mind control that keeps many of us from taking action. Based on how science and PR has been used against us so far, we might be in a last stand for the fate of the human mind vs fear. One guy to help us do that is Luke Rudkowski and the folks at WeAreChange. Hell, they just went after Dick Cheney.

Can people get inspired to act instead of just entertained by acts like this they see?
If we lose the internet, will we be able to “talk” about this stuff with others — offline?
Unless we practice informing the people around us — will we even be able to later?
If we don’t try to act in small ways now, will we know how to act in big ways later?
.
Fortunately, we have the info war that’s put us in a position to win, so we can use it.
People have passed on info to resist tyranny for thousands of years, we should too.
The “V for Victory” postering campaign put on by Infowars.com is still going strong.
Perhaps we can all find ways to at least start thinking about doing something like it.

Under the banner of fighting child pornography, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice knocked out 84,000 websites last week. The websites did not host or link to child pornography as the government claims.
“As part of ‘Operation Save Our Children‘ ICE’s Cyber Crimes Center has again seized several domain names, but not without making a huge error. Last Friday, thousands of site owners were surprised by a rather worrying banner that was placed on their domain,” reports TorrentFreak, a tech site.

Opposition MPs argue that her admission shows she misled the Commons twice, first by portraying the decision as a routine matter handled by officials at the Canadian International Development Agency, and then when she testified to a committee last December that she did not know who had altered the document. …

That might take months, and would likely be symbolic: Parliament has not meted out punishment to an offender since 1913, when Montreal businessman R.C. Miller was jailed for four months for being in contempt.
The most recent case was in 2008, involving then-RCMP deputy commissioner Barbara George – she received no further punishment. Contempt, however, is a rare censure: it has only happened five times, and never to a cabinet minister.

Canadian aid groups told to keep quiet on policy issues

Aid groups say the federal government is casting a chill over advocacy work that takes positions on policy or political issues – and one claims a senior Conservative aide warned them against such activities.
An official with a mainstream non-governmental aid group said that Keith Fountain, policy director for International Co-operation Minister Bev Oda, gave a verbal warning that the organization’s policy positions were under scrutiny: “Be careful about your advocacy.”

Just a head’s up, every time everyone in the mass media makes a big deal out of something, it’s for a hidden agenda. There’s no way hundreds of different journalists and editors would all say the same things on the same days – in more or less the same ways – unless a shadow government told them all to. It’s the same reason NY Governor Elliot Spitzer’s high-priced hooker scandal was on the front page of every newspaper in North America. Even Canadian papers. We should know this by now.
There’s a great documentary called “Orwell Rolls in his Grave” (below) with current and former journalists, editors, professors and others explaining the main difference between the media in Communist Russia and North America. The difference is the Russians knew that their media was controlled by the government. That’s all. They trotted out politicians from their politburo for a public dressing-down so people would think that the system was fighting corruption. We see it happening in Canada now.
Now, I’ve been promising to add more NLP-sauce (neuro-linguistic programming) to the stuff that I say or write, like “positive thinking” and so on. Except, I’ve run into a different problem. From what I can tell, our insistence on acting soft, or stupid, on and offline, to achieve social acceptance, is part of what makes it hard for people to take this stuff seriously enough to think about doing something about it. If we can’t get mad, or encourage each other without seeming impolite, we can’t get stuff done.
Perhaps it’s a good idea to repeat that “most people who work anywhere are nice and just doing their jobs and don’t know what’s going on” to make it seem like this isn’t attacking anybody. However, so many conversations in Communist Canada are supposed to end on a determinedly positive note that everyone is relaxed and there’s nothing to think about or do. With the Bev “Not!” Oda scandal, people will actually want nothing really “wrong” to be found to avoid even seeing her punished.
This “Not!” scandal is really a partisan distraction reinforcing loyalty to the fake “left vs. right” political paradigm to divide, conquor, corrupt and control us. Even with no consistency, the left will suddenly stand furiously on principle to attack a right-wing politician. The right will ignore their principles to defend theirs. Everyone else will choose sides. And, the media will sell us how important tax-funded “foreign aid” is when it’s a tool of corrupt foreign policy. See: the last 50 years in the Third World.
But, this is still an “opportune moment” (Kairos — Cairo? — hmm…) for any politician to sound off on TV and make it seem like they’re really fighting corruption in Canada. However, the longest sentence for “contempt” of Parliament was 4 months in jail in 1913 and nothing close since. Today, politicians collude to profit and make sure any punishments are weak in case anyone gets caught. Even if she’s fired, Bev Oda will probably get a nice job in the private sector with same people she used to regulate.
Just like with the long-gun registry, long-form census, and long list of garbage we’re all told to get mad about every month, none of it will do us any good unless we learn it’s real purpose and how the (new) world (order) really works. Once the distracting and mildly emotional partisan bickering dies down, we won’t notice how ideas were introduced to change the way we think about the world. We need to transcend the artificial satisfaction we feel from the system’s routinely deceptive self-correction.

We have options, but just going along with the political puppet-show is a bad idea.
Canadians can’t be conned into thinking that just accepting all this is being nice.
Unless we can challenge the info we get from TV, we can’t think for ourselves.
Positive thinking shouldn’t be used to help make sense of corrupt nonsense.
Once that happens we’ll even encourage each other to like Nazi Germany.
Hundreds of experts with peers, passion, persistence and proof all agree.
Get active in the info war while we’re allowed to in Communist Canada.

Just a head’s up, especially for talented legions of YouTube Infowarrazi, especially Canadians. I saw CBC lead anchor Peter Mansbridge (the “man’s bridge” to truth — masonic pun?) say “new world order” a bunch of times while hosting the show “Turning Point” where four panelists slightly disagree on the events of the day. They also used the term to describe what may be happening with respect to the protests in Egypt. Is it any wonder they’ve been on TV every day for hours for two weeks?
Since we’re at a historic a turning point in this age of “crisis” and it would help us to understand why and how to deal with it before whatever happens in 2012, perhaps we can re-post and use the open admissions by our media celebrities of what was previously laughed at, like the creation of a “new world order”, to help make counter-propaganda to reach more people. Otherwise all the people it reached on TV will take it straight, get used to it, give up and accept it. That’s what’s happening now.
CTV’s Lloyd Robertson’s “It’s known as the Bilderberg group. Could their objective be WORLD DOMINATION?” quote on live TV from their 2006 visit to Ottawa is a classic from the movie “Endgame” by Alex Jones, a must-see film. Frankly it would be great to see a Canadian collection of the admissions of a conspiracy in a tight format to pass on to every Canadian so they see just how much is out there. This can also give the average person more courage to talk about it. After all: it’s on TV.

The Left Gatekeepers Phenomenon
The denial that 9/11/01 was an inside job is nowhere deeper than in the traditional Left and the established Left media. Respected commentators for the Left, such as David Corn of the Nation, pooh-poohed challenges to the official story of the attack, or at most suggested complicity of the Bush administration by pointing to Saudi connections to the Bush family, all while staying within the confines of the official myth of the hijackers, crumbling skyscrapers, etc.
The causes of the Left gatekeeper phenomenon are, no doubt, complex. It may be that, because of their political marginalization, writers on the Left tend to be more defensive about their credibility. Furthermore, many Left publications are dependent on foundation funding, and those relationships may compromise objectivity on conscious and unconscious levels. It is also probable that many left icons are co-opted by covert disinformation programs such as Operation Mockingbird that target the Left media precisely because people expect challenges to the official story to come from that quarter.

Boy, the things you miss out on when you live in exurbia with an eleven-month-old baby. This week, I had to pass up three Toronto events: a Sex and the City 2 preview party (sorry, still nursing the wee one before bed), an invite to appear on Dale Goldhawk’s show (ditto), and last but not least, the Marxism 2010 Conference, taking place from May 28-30 at Ryerson University.
Not that I was exactly on the guest list for the latter, but curiosity is killing me. Just who in 2010 is still fanatical enough about Marxism to spend an entire weekend cooped up in a classroom trying to advance the “struggle”? Apparently, quite a few people.
